BMT Group Ltd Launches New Division in India for the Ports and Logistics Sector

BMT Group Ltd today announced the official opening of its Indian operation, BMT Consultants India Private Limited, to support India's fast growing market. Part of BMT's ports and logistics division, BMT Consultants India will provide specialised consulting services to the multi-modal transportation and logistics industry in support of both existing and new infrastructure.
BMT is a global leader in maritime consulting and, with 1200 staff, is the world's largest independent consultancy. Working with other Group companies, BMT Consultants India has the capability to deliver highly specialised expertise in ship design, energy and environment.
David Wignall, Head of BMT's ports and logistics division, said: "India's estimated US$15 billion investment in new ports and transportation infrastructure calls for urgent access to highly specialised skills and technical know-how. The BMT model of providing services throughout the life cycle of the transportation asset brings significant benefits to our customers and sets us apart from any other industry player".
Services available in the immediate term from BMT Consultants India include market and financial analysis; helping customers including banks and financial institutions set the right strategy for long term investment. This is done through Market Intelligence, Strategic Advice and Due Diligence; asset lifecycle services from port planning, design and project management to develop new infrastructure; as well as optimisation and streamlining performance of existing facilities.

Suren has over 23 years' experience in the consultancy field, including 14 years in the UK and more than 10 years in the logistics sector. He has worked on major port projects in Chennai, Nhava-Sheva, Mundra, Hazira and Kulpi.
Operational in India since 2006, BMT has worked for major players in the marine and logistics sector such as DP World, Adani, Shell, Shapoorji Pallonji, All Cargo as well as investors such as SBI, IDFC, IL&FS and Eredene Capital. In support of the current plans to build a large number of shipyards in the country, BMT is ideally positioned to meet the demand for ship design services.
