HKSAR Government complete World's First Public Sector A+ Sustainability Report, assisted by BMT

14-Mar-2008

The Architectural Services Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government (Arch SD) has achieved a GRI-checked A+ Application Level from the Netherlands-based Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) for its preparation of the Sustainability Report 2007. BMT Asia Pacific Limited, part of the BMT Group Ltd, prepared the web-based report on behalf of Arch SD. It was published in January 2008, making them the first public agency report of its kind in the World to be prepared in compliance with the A+ Application Level of the GRI's G3 guidelines, representing the most comprehensive scope of reporting of an organisation's environmental, social and economic performance.

BMT's Project Director, Ben Ridley, commented, "Having to collate and analyse a wide range of data, prepare a bilingual report and complete the graphic design in around 6 months was quite a challenge." The G3 recognition was not the first time BMT had assisted Arch SD in achieving global recognition: BMT's prior independent verification support led to the Architectural Services Department's Sustainability Report 2005 becoming the World's first to be prepared in full compliance with GRI's reporting requirements (2002 version).  Mr Ridley added, "The whole team is delighted to have met this latest challenge and once again gained recognition for the quality of our reporting service."
