BMT produces complete vessel designs, and provides specialist design support such as, model testing, computer simulation, voyage simulation, material sciences, fatigue analyses, human factors engineering and cold-climate technology.
We offer design support from initial concept, through detailed design to production. BMT's track record comprises experience of a wide range of vessel designs, including many specialist types ranging from high-speed passenger ferries, patrol vessels, workboats, offshore windfarm support vessels to yachts, landing craft, double hull military support replenishment vessels and submarines and many others.

Yachts
BMT offers a one stop solution for the yacht owner. From early concept design, naval architecture, detailed and production design through to survey and inspection, we have the skills and capability to offer a high quality engineering service.
With an established background in yachts and advanced commercial craft, BMT utilises state of the art technology and collaborates with some of the world's leading designers, stylists and shipyards. Our design portfolio extends to over 150 proven vessels and our expertise covers yachts up to 165m.

Ferries and Workboats
BMT has developed a comprehensive range of both passenger only and passenger and car (ROPAX) ferry designs ranging from small water taxi vessels and commuter ferries to open water transit vessels and ocean going craft including both medium speed and high speed variants.
The company has particular expertise in low wake wash environmentally friendly vessels and has recently completed a comprehensive study into the use of hybrid propulsion systems.

Offshore Renewable Energy Vessels
For future large offshore wind farms dedicated vessels will be required. BMT has developed a range of vessel designs to provide the next generation of offshore wind turbine support vessels. These BMT designs offer: superior seakeeping for improved comfort; up to 20% saving in fuel consumption for equivalent vessel payloads; novel hull forms for improved docking performance and minimum weather downtime and; high payload capacity.

Naval Vessels
BMT is able to offer a comprehensive platform design service. We are known for our naval architecture heritage and have been involved in the design of numerous types of naval vessel including the new RN Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers, the Type 26 Frigate through the Naval Design Partnering arrangement and of course the Aegir® family of replenishment vessels, of which the UK MARS tankers are an example. We are also involved submarine design, both conventional and nuclear powered.
