Windfarm Support Vessels
Our naval architects have developed a range of windfarm support vessel designs, a resiliently mounted superstructure to reduce vibration and internal ambient noise, an Active Fender System (AFS) to minimise impact loads on the turbine foundation, novel hull form for improved seakeeping performance and minimum downtime with a high payload capacity.
Turbine Access
BMT has teamed with Houlder to develop a new offshore turbine access system. It is lightweight and allows use by vessels without dynamic positioning systems. It has a safer step-across than the friction lock-on method and can transfer in higher wave conditions with increased operability.
Foundation Installation
BMT is part of the Gravity Based Foundation (GBF®)consortium with Ramboll and Freyssinet, developing cost effective gravity foundations. BMT developed a Transport and Installation Barge (TIB) able to transport foundations complete with their towers and turbines without specialist vessels. It is simple to operate and has a wide operational envelope.
