Onshore Support

We provide design solutions to Onshore petrochemical activities with a view to protect people, assets and the environment.

BMT’s experience and knowledge in oil and gas, petrochemical and chemical processing industries help customers identify, quantify and mitigate the risks associated with onshore process facilities.

Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) Studies

BMT is capable of conducting Hazard Identification studies at the initial feasibility stage of a project, as well as Hazard and Operability studies for the front end engineering design, detailed engineering design and design modification during the operation stage. This will effectively identify, illustrate and minimise the potential hazards during the operation stage of the project, and improve the overall operability of the plant and provide cost-effective solutions for customers.

Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) and Consequence Modelling

BMT has extensive experiences in conducting quantitative risk assessment using industry-recognised modelling software PHAST Risk and in-house developed risk summation software RISKSUM. This helps customers to estimate the impact zones of hazardous scenarios as well as identify the worst case and dominant risk scenarios, for layout optimisation, design adjustment and further risk mitigation measures. A QRA study can also help customers to meet statutory and corporate requirements on land use planning.

Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Classification and Verification

Safety instrumented systems are critical to maintain the safe operation of process facilities and prevent unexpected loss to the facility owners and the society. Following International Electrotechnical Commission standards IEC 61508 and 61511, BMT works closely with engineers and operators to specify the SIL requirements of safety instrumented functions from a risk perspective and verify whether the requirements have been met by the instrumentation arrangement, during various stages of the project life cycle.
