HAZOP Studies

Supporting both onshore and offshore oil and gas activities, BMT provides design solutions and comprehensive studies with a view to protect people, assets and the environment.

Oil, Gas and Petrochemical operators must demonstrate that their processes are safe. The Hazard & Operability study (HAZOP) is an effective design review method widely used for managing hazard and operability issues.

Modern society relies on complex processes to produce the materials, products and services. The public demands such processes to be safe and reliable, and such requirements are enforced through stringent legislation. BMT’s risk specialists assist customers in undertaking HAZOP studies both on land and offshore, with a view to:

  • Increase revenue through early identification of hazards and operability issues
  • Reduce downtime by taking preventative action
  • Demonstrate responsible care for employees and the general public
  • Demonstrate the fulfilment of legal obligation

Outputs from the HAZOP event are vital to putting forth sound recommendations of risk based control measures to ensure that vulnerabilities are either eliminated or that risks are lowered to an acceptable level.

Lifecycle Support

BMT is capable of conducting HAZOP Studies for the front end engineering design, detailed engineering design as well as design modifications during the operation stage.

This will effectively identify, illustrate and minimise the potential hazards during the operation stage of the project, and improve the overall operability of the plant and provide cost-effective solutions for customers.
