The Requirement

BMT Asia Pacific was appointed by Vopak Yang Pu to provide consultancy services on all matters relating to the marine facilities for the development of a storage terminal in Hainan. 

What We Delivered

The scope of Work included the review of the following:

• Berthing Analysis and Breasting Dolphin Structure (fender design);
• Mooring Analysis and Mooring Dolphin Structure (Mooring Equipment Design);
• Approach Trestle Bridge – Various sections including expansion loop, check loadings, pile loads and basic 2-D structural analysis checks or 3-D structural analysis checks;
• Platform – Pile Analysis, 2D analysis checks layout of wharf – check loadings, pile loads and 2-D structural analysis of typical beam bent, pile cap and slabs etc;
• Catwalks and abutment – structural loading, environmental loading and foundation loads; structural analysis checks;
• Breakwater and coastal works if applicable – review of geotechnical aspects, slope stability and slope protection.

Additionally BMT advised on the tender package which included:

• Advice on Construction Contract Strategy and prepare tendering package including technical specifications as required;
• Assist in the review of tender document for construction as prepared by local design institute;
• Assist in prequalification of contractors;
• Prepare tender evaluation criteria and evaluate tenderers based on technical as well as commercial considerations;
• Select and shortlisted tenderer for consideration, recommended contractor on basis of merit;
• Assist with selection of Inspection Company.
